About Minilec Temperature Protection Relay PTC
Minilec Temperature Protection Relay
OVERVIEW :-
PTC Thermistors are semi conductor sensors. These have typical characteristics that change their resistance instantly at a specified pre-defined response temperature (NRT). As soon as the surrounding temperature of PTC reaches its NRT value the body resistance of PTC Thermistor rises sharply from 200 / 250 Ohms to more than 5000 Ohms. The PTC Thermistors are embedded in the overhang location of the motor windings. | |
| | The NRT value of PTC is selected according to the Insulation Class of the copper windings of motor or transformers. |

FAQs of Minilec Temperature Protection Relay PTC:
Q: How does the PTC Temperature Protection Relay operate in motor and transformer applications?
A: The relay uses a PTC thermistor sensor to continuously monitor temperature. When the sensor detects an over-temperature condition, the relay trips rapidly (within 100ms), disconnecting power to protect the motor or transformer from potential damage.Q: What is the process for resetting the relay after a trip event?
A: The relay offers both manual and automatic reset facilities. After a trip, users can manually reset the relay via a panel button or allow it to automatically reset if the temperature falls back within safe limits.Q: Where can this protection relay be installed?
A: Its DIN rail mounting system enables easy integration into standard electrical control panels commonly found in industrial settings, particularly for motor and transformer temperature protection across various applications.Q: What are the benefits of using a PTC thermistor sensor in this relay?
A: PTC thermistor sensors provide accurate and rapid response to temperature changes. Their use in this relay ensures that overheating conditions are detected early, minimizing equipment damage and improving operational safety.Q: When should the control voltage selection be made during installation?
A: Control voltage selection (230V AC or 110V AC) should be determined at the time of wiring. Choose according to the supply voltage available in your installation, guided by the relays input terminals for line and neutral.Q: What type of output contact is provided and what is its load capacity?
A: The relay features a single SPDT changeover contact, capable of handling up to 5A at 250V AC (resistive load), suitable for switching control circuits or directly isolating the protected equipment.Q: How does the LED indication help in relay usage?
A: LED indicators on the relay provide instant visual feedback for supply ON and trip conditions. This assists operators in monitoring system status and quickly addressing any fault events, enhancing overall plant reliability.
